Why we recommend GLB for the web

One file, fast to load, and your PBR materials come through intact. Here's what makes GLB the best format to upload.

ThreeDView accepts GLB, glTF and OBJ. All three work, but if you have the choice, export GLB.

One file, everything inside

GLB is the binary form of glTF 2.0. Geometry, materials, textures and animation all travel in a single file, so nothing goes missing between your tool and the browser.

Built for real-time

  • Loads directly into the GPU without conversion.
  • Supports physically based materials: base colour, metalness, roughness, normal and emissive maps.
  • Extensions add clearcoat, sheen, transmission and more.

When glTF or OBJ makes sense

Multi-file glTF is handy while you're still editing textures. OBJ is widely supported but has no standard for modern materials, so models can look flatter. Converting to GLB before you publish gives visitors the best result.
